Peace Cafe – friendship across cultures

Peace Cafe is a welcoming meeting place where people from different countries, cultures and faith traditions come together to share food, conversation and community. Whether you are new to Finland or have lived in Porvoo for years, Peace Cafe offers an opportunity to meet new people, make friends and enjoy time together in a relaxed international atmosphere. 

At Peace Cafe, people of all ages and backgrounds gather around the same table. Through shared meals, music, conversation and laughter, we build understanding across cultural and religious boundaries. Many languages can be heard, but the language of friendship is common to everyone. 

Peace Cafe is organised by the Lutheran parishes of Porvoo and is open to everyone. We believe that peace begins with people meeting one another, listening to each other's stories and discovering what we share.

International Sunday – worship, friendship and community

International Sunday is an international worshipping community where people from many countries, cultures and languages come together to celebrate faith and life. The service is held mainly in English, with contributions in Finnish, Swedish and other languages represented within the community.

Music, prayer, scripture and shared participation reflect the rich diversity of the people who gather. Children are warmly welcome, and after the service everyone is invited to stay for a meal and fellowship. 

International Sunday is a place where newcomers and long-time residents can build friendships, explore faith and find a sense of belonging. Inspired by the vision One Bread, One Humanity, we celebrate the unity that can be found across languages, cultures and nationalities. 

These gatherings are organised by the Lutheran parishes of Porvoo and welcome anyone who would like to experience an international Christian community in the city.
